*smile* I think that some of my fear comes from knowing that, if I screw something up badly, I don't have the cash to call in the cavalry to get it fixed, let alone replace anything. So I always feel, and am always told, to be extra careful with vital and expenseive pieces of equipment that I would be personally and academically screwed without. I must say that I have nothing but respect and admiration for people with the nerve, not I might add to mention the patience, to do that kind of tinkering.
