A record button to record memos and things. DO you have one on the left side? It's a tiny button under the power switch and headphone jack. If not, then you have an older version. You can still upgrade, but you won't get some of the cool features such as an FM radio and eloquence as an optional synthesiser. You'll still be able to play text adventures, though. I think it even includes the database manager. Check on the site.
