Oh! and, to save you some further pain, don't try jumping from the top of the ropes. As I understand it, that won't work and you'll hit a ceiling or something. Apparently you have to jump from the middle of the ropes for best results, and try it a bunch of times to master coordinating the jump. I haven't yet tried this game myself, but this is what I've heard everyone saying if I've understood it correctly.
