Yeah, sayings, metaphors, proverbs and various specific phrases that Czechs use are almost a nightmare to me too when trying to convert them to English and I've never heard them before. I just cannot do without using it, trying to translate it as nearly as possible, or cannot just find another way to express what I want to say.
