Hi, I loved mario games, and mario is still going strong on the current game consoles. My son likes playing mario sunshine which is mario in his latest 3d incarnation. But the game I loved most on the nes was legend of zelda. You leveled up, got new items and moves and fought diffrent bad guys instead of the same turtle over and over again. Plus at the time legend of zelda was able to be saved on the actual cartridge, something of a first at the time. Before that, the closest you could come to a game save was inputting a level code. man, that was a heck of a game!
