Hello Harrison. To find out what your public IP address is you can go to
www.asmodean.net and in the first paragraph welcoming you to my site it
tells you the IP address you are on as well as some other information.
There are many tools on the Internet which will do this but this is the
first one I can think of because I wrote it <smile>. Once you have your
public IP address you can publish that on the list to tell us where you
are hosting. We then connect to your public IP address. Think of a
public IP address like a telephone number and think of a private IP
address as an extention of an office for an internal number. For example
at my office if I'm at extention 1552 people from within the office can
simply dial 1552 and reach my phone. However anyone from outside the
office like someone from home would have to dial the full phone number
to reach me and then even it may not go directly through. They may dial
a generic number like 303-555-5000 and reach an automated system, from
there they would dial 1552 to reach my particular office phone. So what
you did IE: giving out the 192.168.x.x address was give us your internal
office extention using that analogy. What we need is the phone number
that we can call from outside your office. In other words, the public IP
address.
Once you know what your public IP address is we can use that.
Lastly, if you are behind a router which it seems you are you need to
tell that router than when someone connects to your public ip address on
a certain port to forward that port to your internal 192.168.x.x
address. Since I do not know what kind of router you use I cannot help
you. Also, that is tredding on the edges of off topicness. (is that a
word)? In any case. I'd be willing to help you get hosting a Top Speed
server. Porbably the best thing to do is write me privately and we can
go from there.
HTH.
