Well, the saga of the aching shoulders is nearly at an end.

I called Home Depot to see how much a 5 inch core bit would cost. They
said twenty bucks. Not bad. And forty bucks to rent the drill. WO! I
don't need the drill I have one. No, this isn't a regular hammer drill
they said. This has a special SDS chuck. I said, I know, I have a bosh
demolition drill with an SDS chuck. Sorry, we can't rent the bit without
the drill. I said, go blow.

I called a couple of other tool rental places which all seemed to be
closed except for one which would rent me the bit for 75 bucks. I decided
to go it on my own. Sure, a stupid plan but no one said I was very
intelligent.

Working for a couple of hours on each of two days, I finally managed to
smash a hole in the foundation wall. I used, at various times, my hammer
drill, the demolition drill, and my trusty three pound sledge and assorted
chisels.

the hole isn't all that round, but there is a whole in the damn foundation
wall.

I HATE!! plumbing. That is HATE!!! in all caps and three exclamation
points. I decided to put a new flexible gas line on the dryer since I was
doing the new vent anyway. It took three trips to the friggin store
before I got all of the right fittings to connect the damn hose up.
Apparently, there are a couple of standards in play and I accidentally
attempted to switch between the two. Lord have mercy on your soul when
attempting such a thing.

I managed to mortar two bricks into the place where the original dryer
vent had been. I have a sneaking suspicion that you could probably tell
which ones were replaced. Tonight I will attempt to patch up the hole for
the new dryer vent to seal it up nice and tight. Of course, I am pretty
sure this will require another trip to the hardware store as the five foot
flex hose that Teresa picked up is about three inches short for my
purposes. I will make a valiant attempt to get it to stretch those extra
inches first.

This weekend is going to be spent digging the footers for the posts. I
think the temperatures are supposed to go back down below the mid 90s. I
hope.

Later.
