Well, I lived in Pittsburgh for one year and experienced that humidity. If you install a conditioner that is too large, it will cool but not remove the moisture from the air. So, make sure that the proper size unit is figured. It will run longer, but will make the air much dryer and feel cooler.
If you will be living there for years to come, purchase a unit that has a high efficiency rating. It will cost more up front, but will be cheaper to run. Do not use aluminum wiring from breaker box to unit. Get several quotes and compare everything. I had quotes with a difference of $3000. I had installed a air to air heat pump.
