Dan, FYI... you just made my decision for me. I was going to attempt my own deck project until about 20 minutes ago and you changed my mind for me. Wood and I don't get along all that well to begin with and the thought of digging footings, line leveling the entire structure, installing plumbing and electric for my hot tub and figuring how the */%^ to design a set of steps is the stuff bad dreams are made of. I have a contractor friend who needs the four speed trans in his Corvette overhauled and offered to trade me a deck for the work. I am going to call him now to tell him to drop off the vette this weekend because he has a deal.
