Hi When you're done boating, you'll need to pack up your vessel and take it home. Here's how to get it back on the trailer. Steps: 1. Pull the boat up to a dock or beach near the boat ramp. 2. Disconnect the fuel line. 3. Tilt the outboard motor up and lock it, if so equipped. 4. Back the trailer down the ramp until water touches the rear wheels. Don't get the vehicle's wheels into the water. 5. Move the boat up to the trailer and centre it. 6. Release the tilt lock, if so equipped. 7. Release the ratchet lock and pull the retrieval line out from the winch. Smaller boats may load by hand. 8. Attach the retrieval line to the bow of the boat. 9. Reset the winch lock. 10. Crank the boat onto the trailer. Watch how it rides up onto the trailer. You may need to push it back to line it up again. 11. Lock the tilt lock if it didn't lock automatically. 12. Drive up the ramp to a spot where you'll be out of the way. 13. Remove any remaining gear and the fuel tank if it isn't secured. 14. Collapse and secure any awnings or similar covers. 15. Pull the drain plug and release accumulated water. 16. Pull into a Wash Down area and connect fresh water to your motor and run your moter to remove salt water and wash down your boat. Connect Tie down straps and other fasteners. 17 If cleaning tables are provided clean your fish, generally water and a Shute is provided for waste material. 18 Place all rubbish in bins provided and leave the area clean and free from your day's outings. They're often quirky, but with proper preparation, the outboard will be your friend. Steps: 1. Sit facing the motor. 2. Tilt the motor back if it has been locked in the "up" position. 3. Open the tank vent. 4. Move the gearshift lever to neutral. 5. Set the choke between half and full. 6. Adjust the throttle to the "start" position. 7. Prime the fuel system by squeezing the gas-line bulb until it feels firm. 8. Pull the manual starter chord, or press the starter button on motors with electric starters. 9. Reduce the choke and throttle after the motor starts. 10. Adjust the choke if your motor doesn't start after three or four tries. Tips: Some outboard motors come equipped with a kill switch. It usually takes the form of a clip that attaches to your wrist with a plastic curly cord. If you fall overboard, the motor stops. The motor won't start unless the clip is in place. Warnings: Excessive cranking can damage a motor. Engage an electric starter for no more than 5 seconds at a time.
