Yup, these do it yourself projects will either bond or break a
relationship....
The piano thing reminded me of a time when I co owned a music store. We had
purchased an old upright piano, one of those old, ancient "conservatory"
jobbies which stand about 4 1/2 or 5 feet tall.
This monstrosity was located on the second floor of an old apartment
building which was over some store fronts on Main Street in Okmulgee,
Oklahoma.
It was a long straight set of stairs with a landing about the middle. As we
started down the stairs with the blamed thing one of the straps let go and
it took off like it was electromagnetic. (LOL)
The "down" man saw it coming and jumped on the railing and out of the way as
it crossed the little landing and tore the cute little swinging doors off
their hinges and continued along its path. Fortunately there was no one on
the sidewalk as it emerged from the apartment building and careened into the
side of our ancient and honorable 52 Chevy pickup.
It caved in the running board and reshaped the passenger side door.
Man, it is a blessing that no one was killed by it.
Amazingly there was little or no damage to the old piano other than some
additional scratches and dings. A little "antiquing" really made it look
nice though. (LOL)
Cy, the Ancient oKie...

Just thought I'd introduce a bit of dark humor into this thread. I was the
piano technician at an art school in North carolina. One very long day, I
was finishing up a piano in a dance studio. As I replaced the front cover I
gave it a flourish as I said "There!" and the end of the cover
unceremoniously ripped off half a dozen hammers. Talk about mastering one's
temper, knowing I was already tired but had now created a couple hours more
of work.
