I built fences about 30 years ago. We used to do this with both aluminum and plastic slats that are made to slip into the chainlink fencing. The aluminum slats installed differently from the aluminum ones.
The plastic strips were installed by running a bottom row and then slipping vertical strips in the fence and then capping it off with a top horizontal strip. The top and bottom rows lock the vertical strips in the fencing. These go pretty quickly. The aluminum strips were a bigger pain. You had to almost do a basket weave to install it. The aluminum strips did not hold up in high winds as well as the plastic strips. Hope this helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: Larry Stansifer To: [email protected] Sent: Tuesday, September 12, 2006 11:07 PM Subject: [BlindHandyMan] Privacy Slats Hi Guys, Well... if the hotrod and the back yard brewery isn't enough fun, I've decided to slat about 320FT of chain link fence. My across the street neighbor has an identical 6FT chain link fence surrounding his property with white privacy slats woven into the fencing. Has anyone done this? Is it as big a pain as it first appears?
