To find out how to carve letters and numbers, see CHW November 2005, page 20, "Carve Your Niche <http://transcontinental.icongo.com/frontEndComponents/genericComponents /newsletterTrackLink.cfm?linkID=702788&newsletterID=7198&memberID=546353 &format=HTML> ." For the flower instructions, see CHW, February 2000, page 18, "A Hardy Rose". ________________________________ Woodworker of the Year Contest: Nominate someone you know as Canadian Home Workshop's 2007 Woodworker of the Year <http://transcontinental.icongo.com/frontEndComponents/genericComponents /newsletterTrackLink.cfm?linkID=702789&newsletterID=7198&memberID=546353 &format=HTML> and they could win great prizes. We're looking for a woodworker who has achieved high standards in woodworking and made the effort to share their craft with others. If you've nominated someone in past years, don't hesitate to nominate them again-every year, the competition is a close call, and this may be the year your nominee wins! For contest rules and how to enter, see this page <http://transcontinental.icongo.com/frontEndComponents/genericComponents /newsletterTrackLink.cfm?linkID=702789&newsletterID=7198&memberID=546353 &format=HTML> . ________________________________ Some questions & answers from our pros: Q: I need a durable finish for a pine tabletop to be used in the kitchen. What is the difference in durability between urethane and polyurethane? Does either finish prevent white ring marks? Which one can withstand heat from a hot dinner plate or wine spills? -Elisabeth A: In my experience, the polyurethanes have a higher solid content than urethanes. In practical terms, it's easier to achieve a thicker finish with polyurethane. -Pro Don Kondra ________________________________ project <http://transcontinental.icongo.com/frontEndComponents/genericComponents /newsletterTrackLink.cfm?linkID=702790&newsletterID=7198&memberID=546353 &format=HTML> For more questions and answers, or to send questions yourself, go to Ask A Pro <http://transcontinental.icongo.com/frontEndComponents/genericComponents /newsletterTrackLink.cfm?linkID=702791&newsletterID=7198&memberID=546353 &format=HTML> section of our website.
