One word of serious caution here. Do NOT use this General purpose RTV sealant
from caulking gun tubes on any computer controlled engine that uses an oxygen
sensor. You MUST use automotive RTV sealant that is specifically designed to
be safe for oxygen sensors. Anything else will kill the oxygen sensor in short
order.

  good tip for blown gaskets.

this is a perfect replacement. get a tube of silicon sealant. the kind of
heavy duty mix you'd either use for calking boxes, air conditioning ducts
etc.
its in long tubes where you use a calking gun or mastic gun as we like to
refer to them here in the UK.

with this, remove the damaged gasket and then spread a line of silicon to
the gasket head. let it go off for 1 minute and then place the component back
in
place with the bolts where they can drop instantly in place. run your finger
round the edge to clean off the spill.

leave it a good while and it does the trick. I do this all the time with
agriculteral gear and industrial engines with great success. and it lasts
just
  as good
