Good morning List. Just a note to say that Janet and I left Houston on time on our five o'clock plane Yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, scampered through customs and immigration in Toronto and on to our 10:30 flight arriving in Timmins just after midnight in the rain and cold. It was just on freezing so the Taxi driver who met us took his time just in case of black ice on the highway and with reduced visibility there is some risk of things like moose and bear wandering onto the road. This is just the end of the hunting season though so the moose are more usually fairly deep in the bush but you never know. We rolled in here just before 1:30 this morning and of course Janet had to have her cup of tea so I had one too before bed. We didn't get up until about ten o'clock although that isn't all that unusual for us on a day off work.
Monday wasn't a wonderful day, we did do some swimming in the indoor pool and lounging about in the hot tub and met and chatted with an interesting young Norwegian woman there on oil business. We did get out for a Texas Barbecue at Mo's and the shirts we were wearing at the time still smell of it. Tuesday we were sitting by the outdoor pool by ten in the morning under lovely sunshine and had room service serve us lunch out there, hated to leave it to go up and pack. Some of you will be relieved to know that there were no further incidents with the fire alarm and the power seemed to function well. Janet and I want to say thanks to all who helped to make the event a fun and relaxed occasion. It was grand to finally meet those of you who we have spoken with in the Blind Handyman room on the FTP site and some of the other rooms and those of you we have shared messages with on the list. It is regrettable that more of you could not be present for a little face time. It is reassuring to be made aware of the depth and variety of skill, talent and just old fashion charm and good will that runs so deeply through the blind community, what ever that is. Maybe it only runs through this little corner of the blind community but in any case there were sure a lot of warm, kind, thoughtful and generous people in the El Paso room in Houston this past week-end and it was an honour to have been included. To whom it may concern, please pass on warmest best wishes to Mary, Terry and Jovanna, the honorary blinks, of course Tom and Mary who have been part of the family I gather since forever.
