Howdy Everyone, I had an area in the garage where the house could have been extended another 3 feet but it was not. Instead of moving the wall for the dining room, which is on the opposite of this wall and wasted space, they just left a 3 feet deep by 10 feet long area of the house slab exposed in the garage. The house slab is about a foot higher than the garage so this entire wall, or what would have been a wall, as a total waste of area. I only have two walls in the garage instead of three so the radial arm saw was removed and stored. I miss the saw not because of the saw itself but because of the massive storage under it . I but a table, 12 feet long, and 44 inches high. Beneath it was nothing but storage for my rough stock and it could hold pieces up to 12 feet long. Back to the project. I had decided to put cabinets in the 3 by 110 "dead area". After pricing the materials to build these cabinets, I could buy pre fabricated kitchen cabinets and stack them on top of each other to create my wall of cabinets. I purchased 6 36 inch wide base cabinets and 2 fifteen inch wall cabinets.
I place three of the base units across the bottom row...then placed two of the wall cabinets on the two most left base units, and then I flipped the last three base units upside down and stacked them on op of the other units, the two with the wall cabinets and the remaining base unit. I had to flip over the drawer hardware and drop the cabinet bottom to the top or now, the bottom of the upside down cabinet. Now adding in the time, I actually saved a bunch of money doing it this way. The cabinets too were on clearance when i got them so Eaves an addit9onal $50 on each base unit. In case you are wondering why I did not buy another wall unit, I needed the extra open space between the cabinets and the ceiling for my TB, refrig, and stereo. What is a wood shop without a TV, stereo, and a refrig to keep my "root" beer cold! (grin) Later ya'll, Dale
