That is exactly what I use, works very well, a little too well. The smallest 
thing throws it off. The channel should probably be milled a little curved 
so it is a little deeper in the middle just to reduce the sensitivity a 
little.

I bought mine from the RNIB about 36 years ago. Seems to me I paid about 7 
quid way back then. A fine piece of iron.
