As Lew says you get what you pay for. Well that is true in large part. If I used tools on a daily basis to make a living you bet I would get the best and be done with it. in the long run it is not worth replaceing cheep tools all the time.
Now for my personal perspective as one that needs to have a good stock of toolds for those ongoing projects in the house and under the hood. but not reall often. Most of my tools are GSS brand tools. So you say you have never heard of GSS brand tools? I venture to say that most of us have at least a few in our arcenal. GSS stands for Garage sale specials. You have to be careful here and you don't find them all that often but it is always worth asking if they have tools when you go to a garage sale whether willingly or by vertue of being in the wrong car at the wrong time with the wrong person. Also I hear pon shops can have some deals.
