I did this with sighted help. Basically you have three wires plus ground going into the current 220 V outlet.
Now what I did was turn off the main electric at the box. Pulled out the 220 breaker and put in a single pole 110 15A breaker. I connected the black wire to the new breaker and capped off the red additional wire. Than I went to the outlet with everything still shut off and put in a standard 110 outlet next to the other box. Took apart the current 220 box spliced the ground white and black wires to a small length of wire. I fished that wire into my new 110 outlet and hooked up according. Than I capped off the red wire and covered the 220 box with a blank plate. Crossed my fingers and switched it all back on. Worked like a charm. > ----- Original Message ----- >From: Kevin Doucet <[EMAIL PROTECTED] >To: [email protected] >Date: Fri, 22 Dec 2006 14:20:36 -0600 >Subject: [BlindHandyMan] converting 220 outlet to 110 >Hi group, >I have an electric 220 outlet near a counter in the kitchen.
