Apparently the so-called aromatic cedar is actually juniper for what that 
matters.

Usually it is just a thin lining which is applied by glue.

You may wish to consider the water soluble contact cement, the blue stuff, 
much less stink and you don't have to hold the cedar in place while the glue 
sets up.

There may be something else especially for the purpose but nails aren't 
really the best answer for that application.
