Here's my two cents on the glass in the TV stand.

We had a metal stand with glass shelves we used for a long time with
one of the TV's and with the items you mentioned. The equipment
actually puts out more heat than you would think, and the glass was
frequently very warm, whereas now that it's all on wood, we never
feel the wood warm at all. Also, every place where there was a vent
on the bottom of the units, the glass was discolored after just a
couple of years sitting there. We had intended to use the stand
elsewhere after getting the new entertainment center, but it was
going to cost a lot to replace all that glass, so we threw it out.

So I would say, go with wood. Especially as Dale pointed out, you
can't see that it's glass in there with all the stuff on it, unless
it would be like ours that had a blacklight embedded under the bottom
glass shelf. THAT was neat while it lasted, which wasn't very long.
And yes, it was terrible you could see all the cords to this stuff,
and there's really no way to join them up very well since each piece
has a cable running to every other piece! We much prefer the
entertainment center, where the bottom had just two shelves and two
doors with more shelves behind them, since it looked much neater.

Thinking of my entertainment center, that might be an idea you want
to consider, if you might like doors on the stand. The doors on ours
have "window" with a cloth covering, so you can use the remote
control with the door closed and also put speakers in there too. The
doors and cloth are black so you don't notice that it's mostly
frabric, and it even took us a while to really notice this handy
feature!

Also, I certainly hope you're talking a teenage or adult daughter,
and not a young'un! I would never want real glass shelves in a
child's room!
