Some really good information here guys for us all to learn from. David Ferrin I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I'll probably screw that one up too. generators in relation to powering up houses in the USA are ok however there's one specific issue for those who use electrical appliances such as computers and other sensitive equipment. generators are primarily AC driven but can also have DC drive output. sensitive equipment should be protected by surge equipment and backup and anti spike boxes. otherwise the relative frequencies of power to sensitive equipment can cross over and be destroyed as well as the main thing of power being interupted by the cycle of the generator. it does not run constant so there will be some variations on power supply at times. if you are doing this, I advise having a test system with the generator to alert you of frequency drop and power trips. also isolated sockets and diagnostics. As I work primarily in studios and on stage these days I always analyse power regulation and hire out professional Diesel generators for stage use. they do not trip as there are always 2 lines of simultanious output to protect against powerdowns or frequency issues. feedback is also something you have to watch out for and overloads. lew [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] To listen to the show archives go to link http://acbradio.org/handyman.html or ftp://ftp.acbradio.org/acbradio-archives/handyman/ The Pod Cast address for the Blind Handy Man Show is. http://www.acbradio.org/news/xml/podcast.php?pgm=saturday The Pod Cast address for the Cooking In The Dark Show is. http://www.gcast.com/u/cookingindark/main.xml Visit The Blind Handy Man Files Page To Review Contributions From Various List Members At The Following address: http://www.jaws-users.com/handyman/ Visit the new archives page at the following address http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/ For a complete list of email commands pertaining to the Blind Handy Man list just send a blank message to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Yahoo!
