I sure can't buy a sheet of plywood like that for that price and there is a
factory making the stuff not three kilometers from my front door!

>>> Well a few weeks ago I learned a cutting plywood lesson. I purchased a
>>> 1/4
>>> sheet of oak veneer from Lows.
>>> We first had a problem locating it since it was not in the correct bin
>>> so
>>> we had someone help locate it. I told him that I was going to cut it up
>>> for shelving and I planned to cut pieces 23 1/4" x 15 3/4". He told me
>>> that there would be no charge for him to cut it. So I took advantage of
>>> that offer. When cut they were placed in Karen's cart and we purchased a
>>> few more items and went home. Karen took it in the basement for me and a
>>> few days later I started cutting the banding stock. Well the tops of the
>>> plywood were very nicely cut. The oak veneer on the bottom was really
>>> messed up. Although this will be the bottom of the shelves for the TV
>>> stand, I had to get some plastic wood and fill in and really sand the
>>> bottom. You could get some nasty splinters if I hadn't filled in the
>>> jagged rips.
>>> That board costs $20 so I did salvage it. The finished product looks
>>> great
>>> from the top. Just hope no one ever looks under the shelves, the will
>>> wonder what kind of a wood butcher I am.
>>> If I would have cut them I would have used a plywood blade and made
>>> three
>>> passes for each cut. First about a 1/16" scoring cut on both finished
>>> sides then cut the plywood. There would have been no splintered edges.
>>> Oh well! I learned something.
