OK,

The fossette sort of does still apply. The circuit requires pressure to the
fossette but to form a circuit it also requires a drain. this is sort of
analogous to the live and the neutral.

Be that as it may, there will be a live and a neutral one each to the bottom
of the bulb socket, the other to the threaded rim. because the circuit is
broken when the switch is off you could safely ram your finger into the
socket where the tip is touching the bottom of the socket and the threads
along the edge at the same time and you can't get a shock. If the switch is
on then electricity will flow from the bottom of the socket through your
finger and out through the threaded side of the socket. The ground doesn't
come into it unless you remove the fixture and also touch the electrical box
or if you stick another finger onto any screws holding the fixture into the
electrical box. Even so, the switch would have to be wired incorrectly and
you would have to have your finger onto the bottom of the socket and to one
of the screws holding the fixture into place. All of this could be arranged
with some trouble for sure but none of it matters if the switch is turned
off..

Usually the neutral would not be the line broken however that doesn't
matter. provided you don't go to a lot of trouble to get your fingers among
the wires inside the box in the ceiling.

Of course nothing is absolutely impossible but if this is still of concern I
recommend against getting out of bed in the morning.

The main risk is now from shards of glass. wear safety glasses and probably
leather gloves.
