If you like skip the risers or back kick plate and use just a couple of decking boards for the threads. I think they are 1 1/8 x 6 inch. I like screwing them down. Three screws per board. This gives about 11 inch thread. I screw the boards down tight against each other and the shrink to about a 1/4 crack. These seem to hold up well with a little care. If you insist on a kick plate or riser, a 1" by will do the trick. I hope you have three stringers or Jacks. RJ
