Hi Folks, Isn't the average width of a home about 15 to 17 feet in width?
I know that my home is just over 20 feet wide at both ends, so if I had to put a ramp there that was about 14 feet long, I don't think I'd have a problem. Why the large disapproval of what Betsy is trying to do. If I understand her post correctly, the height of the step is 14 inches tall, and there is only the one step, so, at most, she'll only need a 14 foot ramp. I don't think she mentioned that she had a very small home, or was living in a mobile home that had very little space. So why the big disapproval? At the front of my home, I have an L-shaped stairway, consisting of 4 steps to the first landing, then another 7 steps to the porch. You talk about making this puppy accessible to wheelchairs? smile. This is something that I'm going to have to conquer in the near future as my home will be used as a training site for my and my brother's adaptive technology business, so I'll have to put in a ramp, but, like Betsy's home, I also have a doorway that is located at the side of my home that is only about 16 to 18 inches high, so the ramp will only be 16 to 18 feet long. In any case, I'm glad I don't have to build the ramp up at the front of the house, as I'd probably lose my entire front lawn. smile. Anyway, I think I read Betsy's post correctly, didn't I? If I didn't, please folks, set me straight. Victor Gouveia ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Yahoo! Groups gets a make over.
