A friend of mine who used to be an electronics tech in the air force swares 
by a contact cleaner he calls cramlin or gramlin or something like that.  It 
is a red liquid that really does the job.  I think he has used up the supply 
he was able to bring home from the air force.  I have a commercial cleaner 
that looks and smells very similar.  It's called wissh, spelling w i s s h. 
I have a quart can with just a little left in the bottom.  When it runs out, 
I don't know what I'll do.  It quiets noisy pots and crackling switches. 
I've even used it to free up a frozen switch shaft.
