You know I had this grand idea I was going to add another light to my kid's playroom. The single resessed light in there offers little light overall so another on the opposite side of the room and let me tell you, this looked to be a fairly simple process, but it was not. There are these arms that extend from the fixture that are to be nailed into the beams however, the problem was regardless of where I set the bracket the arms were attahced too, I couldn't lower the light can enoug to be close to the opening. So, I ended up against my wishes, just running screws into the beams and using heavy guage wire to hang the fixture on. Its good and stable, but whoever put the damned ceiling in really did in my opinion leave more room than was necessary. I'm not sure exactly how much space should be left, but I'd say there's a good six inches or so. Probably the proper amount, but geez, this was one of those projects that became more work than it should have been. Of course as I type I realize I could have added to the beams and achieved the same goal. Damn, wish I had typed all this out before I got started, I probably could have saved myself some time and cursing. Of course I haven't any scraps on hand, but hell I could have gotten some tomorrow.
