The angle depends on the length of the blade protruding from the unit, and I 
believe that there is a scale included with the instructions.  For example a 
one inch length, gives you a 25 degree!  I haven't use it for a while, so I 
don't remember the scale!

  The bevel on a plane blade is probably too thin but maybe a chisel.
