I think you got some replys that are accurate, but I'll add my two cents. Area
of a triangle is 1/2 times the base times the height.. You have given two
sides and the base. You have to calculate the heights. A perpendiculer
dropped from the intersection of the two seven foot sides will biscect the
base. Looking at half the triangle you have a right triangle where the hypot
se squared is equal to the sum of the base squared plus the height squared. So
working backward. 49 equals 36 plus height squared. 49 minus equals 13. So
the height is the square root of 13 and that is approx. 3.6. Back to the
original area formula. we have 6 times 3.6 equals 21 21.6.

Hope I didn't get too wordy. I just watched the game show about being smarter
than a fifth grader and would have missed the million dollar question. I
thought one was a prime number and didn't think aobut 2 being one.u

  Subject: [BlindHandyMan] Another question

How would I figure the square footage of a triangle?

The dimensions are base 12 ft., and each side is 7 ft. This is another area
that I am going to put rock in as a low spot in our yard. Thanks, Jeff
