Actually you can tell by just listening to it. The furnace starts off at a lower speed, then after about 5 minutes or so, it will jump in to a higher speed. Then when it gets near the desired temperature it will drop back down to the slower speed. Keep in mind once the desired temp is reached and it goes off, and the temperature changes enough to kick back on, the speed should run at the lower speed. It's nothing more than a energy saving feature. But over the winter, and summer, this lower speed will save a substantial amount of money. I don't know about the rest of you, but during the winter and summer months I turn the thermostat off when either leaving or going to bed. As in California winter months are mild. So when you turn the heater on in the morning, this is were this second stage or speed is handy. The higher speed will blow warm air faster and warm the house quicker, and the same thing during the summer, it will cool the house quicker. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim Ruby" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, April 26, 2007 10:30 PM Subject: RE: [BlindHandyMan] keep in mind when buying a talking thermostat`
