I have also read several articles that say when using composite decking 
you need to put the joists closer together since the composite will tend 
to sag, especially in really hot sunny areas.

Also, if you look around, there are now stains and treatments for 
composite decks which implies that they aren't as maintenance free as they 
would want you to believe.  Some composites now suggest staining them 
every five years.

If this is an elevated deck, I would really read carefully before using 
composites as the framing members.
