Okay David, I will agree baking soda is a chemical of sorts but not as
harsh as many of the products off the shelf at most any pool store.
when we first got our pool some 11 years ago. I built a shelf in our
shed for just pool chemicals. a total of eight bottles not counting the
chlorine tagblets. all I am thinking if is safer for our bodies and
easier on the skin and eyes the way I do it now, with just the chlorine
liquid for opening and closing as well as the tablets during the summer
and adding baking soda which I pre mix with pool water in a mop bucket.
I've got local folks who will tell me it does not work that easy but I
can take a pool water sample to the local pool store and we are
usually right on as far as a balanced water for safe swimming and
sighted folks tell me the water will look crystal clear. Lee
