this subject line  of" how tires are made" brings to mind when our 
family  bought some  Nylon  winters from Monkey Wards in the 50's. those 
tires had a nice deep tread but who would have thought those tires were 
not meant for extreme cold weather. every morning they were flat , yes 
flat but only on the bottom. the car made an odd " flap flap" going down 
the road until that Nylon warmed up. In the early 70's we used to run " 
cold capped" tires from a local dealer and he got those out of  
someplace in Conn. Has any  other person on the list had good luck with 
running recaps which were considered  to be cold caps ? Lee
