How much and what sort of insulation are you using?

Should be at least 4 inches in the walls and 6 in the ceiling of fiberglass, r
12 and r 20 respectively.

The big deal is to seal all air leaks through the building so the cold can't
get out or the hot get in. The insulation will take care of conduction and to
some extent radiation but convection needs to be sealed against. Tape or calk
the seams in the poly vapor barrier to keep air from moving through them.
Remember too that when you pound a nail through that plywood it will penetrate
the barrier unless there is some space there. If you have the room, an inch and
a half of extruded foam taped at the seams and held in by your plywood will add
insulation, eliminate air flow and provide room for a screw from puncturing the
barrier from through the plywood.

  Dale asked.

So is the shop cool enough or not?

I don't have any insulation installed in the shop at this time so I don't
know. It's like an attic in there running about 120 degrees in the
afternoon and the AC can't even make a dent in it. The teddybear cottage is
a different story. Note, that's what Sue calls her little house. We spent
this past week installing insulation. It was quite a job to put it in the
ceiling but we got it done and stapled the edges of the vapor barrier to the
joist using an electric staple gun. We finished up yesterday afternoon and
I turned on the AC and left it over night. The new window ACs have digital
readouts for thermostat setting and temperature. It's about noon here and
just a few minutes ago it was 75 in there. the building is 10 by 16 feet
and the AC is a 5,000 BTU. After we finish the paneling in the teddybear
cottage we will put insulation in my shop. I'm going to use 1/2 inch
plywood for paneling in there. I want something that I can drive nails into
and hang things without having to hit a stud. The shop is 12 by 30 feet and
the AC I got for it is 10,000 BTU. I hope it's big enough. I have a bad
  feeling it isn't.

  Regards.
