Lee,
I absolutely agree with you.
While I can do many things there are also many things which I have no
business doing without some sighted assistance. If nothing else, I feel a
whold lot safer when I know that my wife is somewhere near and keeping an
occasional eye on me in case I get into trouble doing some of my idiot
maintenance jobs such as running to and fro on top of my mobile home sealing
joints and seams or climbing in trees trimming off branches which have grown
far too long.
Don't worry, I *do* know which side of the cut to place the ladder. (ROFL)

Subject: [BlindHandyMan] sometimes we need sighted help

Some times we need sighted help for safety sake.Let me explain. My
wife was out on the riding tractor mowing the lawn and she noted one of
our big Catawaba or Bean trees was near falling down. This must have
happened in a storm we got last week when the winds and rain were
blowing so hard it blew open our door which faces West. there is limbs
hanging by next to nothing so I called a tree doctor. He has been
here and will be back with a bucket truck on Saturday and asked that we
keep folks away from that area. seems as if the tree which was planted
in 1951 is ripped and torn but he saw no sign of burning, like from
lightening. what is odd is there is no limbs or even twigs on the
ground. however he says if we put a ladder in that tree it could fall
apart in any given place. So many things we can do ourselves , but for
safety sake there are times we need an extra pair of eyes. Usually, as
most of you know , one would notch the tree in the direction you wanted
it to fall. Lee
