Hi, On Thursday my wife received the Lonnie Bird Tambour router bit set sent from ToolsToday.com. There wasn't even any import duty go figure.
I haven't yet done any cutting with them and I am a long way from actually beginning the roll top desk project but these cutters are awesome. I think I understand the sequence, they should make very handsome tambour slats. If I can pull it off I think I might make one for the Womens' Auxiliary to raffle to raise funds for the Hospital or the Nursing Home. If of course I can find a source of decent hard wood. Special thanks to Larry Martin of WoodWorking for the Blind for helping me locate a source and helping me to understand what I was buying. For the price I didn't think I could justify buying them without understanding thoroughly their profile and purpose. this is well beyond his mandate and I want it known that this is a most helpful and appreciated assistance. I will have a go at photographing my project with my phone when done and sending it along. Once I get the Arborite on my router table I'll send you a picture or two of that too. There is at least one other tambour bit design and much cheaper but it does not produce interlocking tambour slats.
