If your cord is long, you could cut it and place a waterproof switch box in
line. Some only use a standard single throw switch and the actual switch cover
has a large on off toggle that is easy to handle. Only one wire (the hot )
will need to go on a single pole switch, the hot and ground will go on a double
pole single throw switch. The safety groung needs to be fastened to the safty
groung screw on the switch. The only hard part is to mark each wire the same
when cut apart and having someone sighted make note of which wire is which
before cutting. The insulation on the cable would have to be carefully
removed. Than each wire , one at a time needs to be cut and marked. Both ends
of the hot will be marked the same, say no insulation is removed. One quarter
inch of insulation could be removed from the ground wire and maybe three
quarters of an inch on the safety ground if insulated. I have done small nicks
in the insulation already. It really would not be bad at all to do it. I
might add, that the large toggle throw switches on the waterproof covers do
work very nice...........bob
