In all probability. A snake will follow the sent of a rodent. On the ask
trapper John site there is an interesting article on how to build a snake
trap using pvc pipe, a nylon stocking and a field mouse nest.

I had some mouse traffic in a particular part of my garage. A couple
of months ago there was a garter snake coiled up right by the hole that a
mouse would come in. I wondered if the snake had figured out that he might
be able to get an easy meal right there.
