Seven years ago we had most of the windows in our older home replaced
with a Shuco brand vinyl window. these are white vinyl inside and
out. no more painting etc. also forgot to say these are a gas filled
window , double hung. two weeks ago we were taking out a window air
conditioner and we were pushing up on a lip for rasing and lowering the
window and darned if it did not break away from the window. so I am
thinking we are screwed. well thankfully somebody in this house keeps
accurate files as we have a window which is no longer air tight. We call
the factory in Conn. and they called yesterday to say " its in the
mail" , the replacement sash. this type of window is made for cleaning
as the tipin and tip out so when we get the new sash we are to slide
it up about three quarters way and tip in and slide up and out. Now
will be the problem of what to do with the old sash. the glass is all
good and the frame is perfect except it no longer has the gas seal..
I know we way over paid for the window and installation but maybe it is
worth it after all. Lee
