Don:

I go along with you.

50 seemed to be a big turn about.

I used to rock climb, roof etc.

Currently putting up an antenna installation on my roof, but going to use
scaffolding - 10 years ago I would have just used ladders!

David

I use to be the same way. I never thought much one way are the other about
getting on the roof. Like you the higher the better. I use to think
nothing about climbing ham radio towers either, that is until I hit the big
fifty year old mark. Don't know something happened, I will still get on a
roof, but I just don't like heights much at all any more. Hell I guess it
is a mental block, our maybe, it is called getting old are something,
I don't know, but something has sure changed. My roof days are pretty much
out of here for some strange reason. Don

  Hey Robert,

I wish I could have been there to help. I am not afraid of heights at all.
In fact, the higher,
the better. Before we installed a metal roof on our home, I used to get on
the roof every year and
put up our Christmas lights. Sometimes, I would get up there and put them
up by myself while my
wife was gone to work. Boy, I've gotten a many of a chewing out by her
too, for doing that. I love
Heights though. I also love roller coasters, especially the ones that turn
you upside down and
right side up, sideways and cross ways and every which way in the world.

Well I was back up on the roof again today.
I have to admit that I was a bit of a weeny today. John was stretching out
on the roof with his feet against the ladder. I could not quite seem to
get
myself into that position. I felt like my boots were going to slip off of
the ladder rung. I don't know how he did it but oh well it is his moms
roof
any way and there was plenty of other things I was doing to help. I did
get
back on the roof when we got to the top piece and were able to lay the
ladder flat on the roof with the legs of the ladder against the garage
next
door. Hush don't tell the guy next door.
The bottom line is that the roof is now finally covered. I did not say it
was finished just covered. All of the roofing is in place. John is going
to
go back up and finnish sealing a couple of small seams with some type of
tar
that comes in a calking toob and then nailing down the last little bit of
rolled roofing that needs tacking down.
I get to get back up on the ladder and help put back up the edge boards, I
think they call them facia or some such thing. So now you all know every
thing I know about roofing which is not much.

Well once again, it is almost that time. on the handy show this week,
We call Tom Houston, then Don Patterson reads some list mail, then we talk
with a guy that posted , what I thought was a great post on the fun and
the
trials, of roofing a garage to the handy list. So we talked too Robert
More,
the roof guy, and Robert had a great story too tell.
On the blind like me show this week, Phil talked with a fairly new list
member of the blind like me list, Stephen Guerra Stephen told us some
things
about his life, and some things he has going on at this time, and told
Phil
about beep base ball, most interesting. So to find out about that, well
you
will need to listen to our download this weeks show. Download links
