After that you plan out the job so that you have a sequence that is practical to follow. One of the tricks to painting with a roller or a brush and quite probably a spray gun as well though I have never done that is to keep a wet edge. You start at one side and move up and down or at the top and work side-to-side moving in strips about two thirds the width of the roller, rollers being 8 or 9 inches wide usually. Try not to go too fast or you will have paint spitting off the roller with centrifugal force and the spring back of the nap of the roller. You can get pretty good spray from a brush as well. The short handle of a hand roller makes keeping track of your progress reasonable. A power roller, or the ones I have seen anyway have a pretty long handle which means that all movements are amplified by the length of that lever. I would think this would make control a little more difficult. Trouble though apparently has mastered that. finally, you can mask off things like trim with blue painter's masking tape and plastic or paper. Obviously if you can't hit your mouth with a fork or spoon you might not find painting very satisfying. Personally, I am not confident that my painting outcomes are very satisfying. It takes me a long time to get a good paint finish and at that, it often isn't all that good. I usually end up using more paint than a sighted painter does and I usually end up having to clean up runs and drips I cannot detect while applying the paint until it is dry otherwise I would get finger prints in it. That then means another coat. In an effort to get good coverage it is my tendency to over paint or go over an area more thoroughly than is needed for a good paint finish. It isn't just about getting coverage, you want an even layer that presents an attractive finish. I expect if you have a patient sighted coach one might get passably good at it and there is some value inn that but mostly if there are eyes available I try to get them behind my painting projects. Having said that I am in the middle of a small shop cabinet painting project just now. There aren't available eyes.
