David What is actually done with some radio direction finding systems is to have two antennas on a rotatable bar which you carry. However the receiver is switched between the two antennas and the phase of the received signal is tested. This way you can tell which signal is getting there "first".
This only works at relatively high frequencies where the wave length of the signal is pretty short. Using such a receiver and two transmitters on different frequencies you could get two bearings from your listening point and thus locate your self relative to the transmitters. Without some very accurate measuring equipment it wouldn't be very accurate. and it would be complicated and pretty expensive. Tom
