The Overbrook school for the blind in Philadelphia is establishing a museum. Several months ago I donated an old Braille writer that was built in Denmark. I have an old wooden lamp that my brother made there. He took a bunch of assorted wood blocks and glued them together. He then turned the lamp body on a lathe. Then using a very large drill press drilled a hole down the center of the lamp. He gave the lamp to me years ago and we really have no place to display it. He made this in 1972 and graduated 1977. Yesterday I was talking to them about the rotomatic and mentioned the old shops and the lamp that Mike made. They really want to add it to the museum. Just now trying how to safely pack it up for shipment. I think I will use two boxes one for the lamp and the other for the shade. I think it is neat that it will become a museum piece with mention of my brother. Now as for the rotomatic. I asked them if they would purchase the new version from NFB I would trade the original so they can have it for the museum. The instructor at the time Fred Sigafoos, probably misspelled his name, designed the rotomatic about 1950. A friend of mine helped make them in the metal shop. Fred also designed a unique stylus that the point screwed off and then screwed back inside the handle for safety. You could carry it in your pocket and not get stabbed. My friend sent his to the museum. He made it in 1951. Yesterday I mailed them my brother's 1977 yearbook and some photographs of the original rotomatic.
