I have a very strong magnet that I keep by my drill press. One use is that I keep the chuck key on the magnet fastened to the base of the machine. I have no problem finding it. Anyway my tip is that if you have a magnet near your drilling station keep it in a plastic bag. I needed it to find some fine screws that were dropped on the carpet. Just by moving it over the carpet all were found. Now for the plastic bag. A few weeks ago I drilled some metal and carefully vacuumed up the metal shavings except what stuck to the magnet. When I went to pick it up I found one in my thumb. Now it is in a plastic bag so no metal filings can stick to the magnet. When I want to use it I will just take it over to the trash can and take it out of the bag and any metal will be in the trash. Lenny http://www.geocities.com/lenny_mchugh/
