Hi all,
I have stopped for now on the dust collection unit, but it is working well.
I want more pipe so that I can come out further and cover the whole room.
I ended up doing pretty much what I already had.
I just changed from 3 inch to 4 inch pipe as my main line.
I have the actual vacuum unit back in the back, left corner of my shop, I have
my main work bench with drill press, sander, router table and band saw on it
along that left wall and I have my 4 inch run along that wall, behind the table
and hooking up with plastic flexi gutter pipe which I have hose clamped onto
the sucker.
I ran the 4 inch into one 3 way, about half way down my table, and came up from
there with another piece of 4 inch pipe.
Then more 4 inch follows along the ground, until it comes to the other corner
of the room and I have a corner, turn, what do you call that? a 90?
Anyway, it turns there and I ran the remaining little piece of 4 inch off that,
I put couplings equip with inside threaded ends up at the top of the 4 inch
which comes up behind the work bench, and also on that piece which comes around
the corner.
I have two caps which screw into those couplings, but one I took and hole sawed
the middle out of so that I could have a portable 2 inch coupling end which I
could push in there to hook up my big flexi hose.
I used my old friend duct tape to line the outside of the 2 inch coupling, so
that it will give some resistance and tightness to the fit in the hole in the
cap.
My flexi hose is made up of 3 or 4 foot sections, not sure, haven't ever
measured them, but they hook together with little couplings, and end in one
piece of the flexi hose which is ringed with wire or spring which allows you to
scrunch up the pipe for smaller storage, or shaping to drag along the ground at
an angle?
I can now take off the full cap, and move it to either opening and then put in
that piece of cap with the hole in it in the other hole and have my hose in
either location.
I want to put more pipe on both ends coming out, so that I can hook on at
either end of the room, but I ran out of 4 inch for now.
I also want to pick up more hose some day.
Some of this took improvising, but I am not close enough to a hardware place to
run back and forth for perfection.
It works nicely and I can always knock it down to one piece of the 3 foot hose
and have that right at the back of my table for suction on the spot at drill
press or whatever, and go longer to either clean the floor, under the table saw
or compound miter or to hook directly to the out put on either as they are used.
I don't glue any of it, because I like being able to break it apart for clean
out, or as I decide to change things.
I also took a large box I had received something in and put it under my table
saw to keep it's dust in one spot... sort of.
I haven't decided if that did any good after all, but it's good to have to
throw scraps and junk in for easy finding when it's clean up time anyway.
Just thought I'd update you guys since I asked for your opinions.

Take Care,

Matt
