Actually most of those self adhesive glues seem to be petroleum solvent. Some
also respond well to alcohol or acetone (nail polish remover). Something like
varsol but it will stink and need to be well washed out for petroleum based
goo. If you don't have alcohol things like Lysol spray or even most hair sprays
are largely alcohol but again you will have to wash the stink out.

Hope this helps.

  Subject: [BlindHandyMan] removing glue

Last year after Christmas my wife purchased some napkins for the holidays.
She just put them away without removing the large label that was glued on
each set. I guess from being in the heat and cold in the attic the label became
really stuck to the cloth. We were trying to peal the label off and finally
tried hot water. This helped so I left them in the sink and added a little
white vinegar to try and remove the label and glue. This is not really helping.
Any ideas?
