I have one of those live traps you are talking about and they work great. Once the mouse gets in the box it is quite literally impossible to get out. Even if a mouse had enough brainpower to figure out just how the thing works it would not be able to open the door because of the way it swings shut. Don't remember what I paid for it but they are quite cheep.
