Hi all, I know we are all familiar with the 10 inch long level from MaxiAids. But when I was building my shop over the summer I found a 4 foot model from Stabila that works great. It is an engineering level so there are features we can't use, like degrees or inches of incline. You can lock it and pick it up and the reading will stay the same at any angle... But this has an audible sound that is much more accurate than the little one we know of. It will begin beeping slowly within I think it is 13 degrees of level so the sound doesn't go all the time... As you get closer to level it will beep faster and faster until it goes steady. There are 2 different pitches, 1 for each side of level.
I got mine through Amazon.com but you can Google something like audible carpenters level and find a couple different companies making them. Just a warning if you only type in audible level you are asking for trouble on Google. You'll get hits on all kinds of research into sound... It is a bit pricey but if you do much building on your own it will pay for itself in convenience. Just being able to check on your own without having to fit a schedule with someone else is really nice... [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
