Hi all,
does anybody know where I can get a braille or tactile marked dial guage. I
know a talking dial guage does exist, but this is not really adiquate for lathe
work and more suited to milling. With this piece of equiptment it is
impossible to tell where the high point is on a cylindrical billet held in a
chuck with any accuracy. We used to have just such a device in engineering
college, but the teacher marked it himself by making another face, drilling it
and brazing pin shanks at every 5 thou mark. This was surprisingly accurate
for being able to clock a job absolutely true in a three jaw chuck or
faceplate, as it was all down to feel and skill. I maybe being unfair to the
talking dial guage as I have never seen one, so if anybody has seen one I would
be interested in hearing their comments on this piece of equipment.
PS. alas the teacher in question has since retired.
Warm regards.
Martin Webster.
